Join us HOARDER to celebrate our 4 year long project as it comes to its end. Set to be a week of art, film, performance and a variety of interactive art!

HOARD is a 4 year long project based in Leeds. A group of artists are hoarding objects and artefacts relating to their practice: finished artworks, props, curiosities, documents, traces, plans, remnants. Curated by local Leeds Artist Sarah Francis.

HOARD PUBLIC OPENING! PLUS Free workshops!

 A journey to creativity, come and play with us at HOARD! A fully free, fully accessible, jam-packed fun day for adults and children.

Jump on the free bus and join us at our mystery location where our team will guide you through activities for all ages. Create a colourful teepee, master the art of puppet making, relax at the watercolour workshop or enjoy a film in our on-site cinema! With a focus on recycling and creativity this totally free event aims to make art accessible to all!

Programme

Teepee weaving, step inside our magical teepee kingdom, using recycled materials help us weave the colourful teepees, or maybe just explore and play. Suitable for all ages, no booking needed.

Apple Making & Decorating, within our teepee kingdom we have our enchanted apple tree made from recycled bottles. We need your help to decorate it, come and help us make apples and hang them on our tree. Suitable for all ages, no booking needed.

Textile Puppet/Doll Making workshop, make an uncanny doll using recycled textiles and wire. Basic hand sewing skills required. With one of our very own HOARD puppet artist Teresa Wilson. ONLY 16 places available, workshop is FREE but booking is essential! For ages 14 to adult.

Learn a variety of skills in our watercolour workshop and gain the confidence to continue painting at home. This one day workshop, lead by an experienced painter is free and suitable for adults and children over 14. Materials are provided. There is no need to book.

 Try your hand at a wide-range of print-making techniques in our one day, tutor led workshop. Materials are provided and there is no need to book, just bring along your imagination to create prints and patterns you can take away with you. This workshop is sutable for adults and children over 14.

Get comfy in our vintage cinema seating, nibble on free popcorn and view a selection of films specially chosen by HOARD. Programmes provided on the day.

Plus treasure hunt!

 As well as HOARD's educational side, we are also a 2 floor exhibition; a group of artists hoarding objects and artefacts relating to their practice: finished artworks, props, curiosities, documents, traces, plans, remnants. These objects are starting points for new works and performances. The contents of the space will be a physical realisation of the minds of the artists as they evolve over the course of the project; sculpture, installation, interactive art and performances.

Coming to an event?

 ART BUS

To ensure ease of access to the venue we will be providing free shuttle bus service throughout the day for our main events. Due to traffic issues the bus will be leaving from bottom of Kirkgate (mega bus stop) by Wharf street. We have put sign post up to help you out! Bus going from 11:30 and after that every hour. 

PARKING

There is free onsite parking available. Follow directions to Leeds Valley Park then continue on to Leeds Valley Park West, Darwin House. Parking at the rear of the building.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

The following bus services stop near to Leeds Valley Park 110, 410, 446. Please be aware that the area is non-residential, so our advice is to take advantage of our free bus!

WHEELCHAIR ACCESS

Darwin is fully wheelchair accessible. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee wheelchair access for the ART BUS

HOARD artist will be holding a weekly artist group, come along chat with artist, get help and support or just bring some work and be inspired! Free tea and coffee.

Three Amazing events in one building! 

OUT WITH THE BATH WATER presents HOARD, VANTAGE and HUTCH! A three tier curatorial collaboration by Departure Foundation and housed in the spacious Darwin House out at Leeds Valley Park.

4pm - 9pm (get down early for performances and drinks reception!)

There will be a free shuttle bus running from Leeds Parish Church for the duration of the event.

 VANTAGE 3: Live Art Edition - A national commission based platform for artists working in performance and time based practices. Now in our third edition; VANTAGE curator Adam Young has drawn focus onto the space of his own research & practice.
